Hol’ up! Don’t pour that green goodness down the drain. Try a quick fix instead
Green smoothies are loaded with nutritional goodness but not always flavorful–especially the ones that are especially detoxifying. Try one of my 3 surefire tips to fix any green smoothie fail and be a green goddess or god for life.
- Too bitter—THE FIX: add something sweet like a couple of pitted dates or a 1/2 frozen banana. You can also add a dollop of virgin coconut oil and/or a couple of tablespoons of soaked dehydrated raw coconut chips (soak for 10 minutes, strain and add to blender) to boost the creamy fruity flavor of any smoothie.
- Too slushy — THE FIX: add hemp seed or a small handful of soaked cashews (cashews must be soaked for about 5 hours, so this only works if you have them on hand) for a creamier consistency. Two tablespoons of hemp seed or a small handful of soaked cashews per 36-40 ounces usually does the trick for me.
- Too thick — THE FIX: add water, and perhaps more fruit and greens to not water down the flavor. SECOND FIX: pour it in a bowl and top with your favorite fruit, avocado, and superfoods like chia seeds, hemp seed, or bee pollen and eat it like ice-cream. Chewing will actually stimulate the digestive system to secrete enzyme rich digestive fluids and support healthy metabolism in a way that drinking just doesn’t.
